2 YEAR TERMS & 2 TERM LIMITS
For many years, municipal elections occurred annually in Toronto. After 1956, elections occurred every other year until 1966 after which elections occurred in 1969 and 1972 before reverting to a 2 year cycle. After 1982, elections again occurred every third year and, after the 2006 election the term of city council grew to 4 years.
The only way to bring about real change is with new people on council. Young new candidates grow old fast waiting 8-12 years for a chance to have a shot at a council seat. Only 1 new face out of 42 long term councillors in the last election.

MENTAL HEALTH MANDATE
1 in 4 Canadians have been touched by the hand of Mental Illness including myself. I lost 10 years of my life to mental illness but fought hard to recover like so many silently do. Our current mental health system needs to be updated. The Mental Health Commission of Canada has made several recommendations that need to be implemented. Please watch the few videos on the Videos Page.
MORE BIKE LANES
Cycling in the city has exploded. I myself ride my bike almost all year long. It's great for your health and studies prove it reduces traffic.
World Class Cities like New York, Berlin, Holland, Montreal and Vancouver have extensive bike lane infrastructure. We can too.
Did you know every year 1,000 Cyclists are injured in Toronto and 2 fatally? That includes our on duty police who ride bike patrols. How much is this costing us in health care dollars and ruined lives. This is a Public Health Issue.
Recent studies from New York City prove bike lanes not only reduce traffic, they also ease congestion. Plus streets are safer for everyone.

WORLD CLASS CITIES
Jordan Stone will put a stop to irresponsible development before we lose all of our city's Architectural History and Small Businesses. Look at Church Street for example. It is quickly turning into Condo Street. Responsible Development with community involvement is Good For Everyone and Property Values.
Jordan will set up a Design Standards Panel that will oversee and approve the highest quality in Architecture, Design and Urbanism to secure Toronto’s position as one of the best cities in the world.
By helping to ensure excellence in urban design and architecture, the creation of beautiful, vibrant and well-designed public spaces, high-quality housing and excellent condo and commercial developments.
New York City, Berlin, London, Paris, even Montreal follow this kind of protocol why not Toronto! U of T has the closest thing to this kind of planning and look at their properties. Amazing! This is a huge bonus for Developers AND Property Values.
Here is a good resource to learn more about Toronto's Architectural History.

SMALL BUSINESS
Have you taken a walk down Yonge Street lately? Clearly our current councillor has not. Toronto iconic small businesses closing on every block. Why? Sky high property taxes going up every year. Knock down a block and build a condo.
What do hardworking business owners tell me? The city is not friendly to small business. No one seems to care. Jordan does. He will fight for and with small business owners to make our ward small business friendly again.

This is a huge problem and every year it gets worse. I propose we sell off the city run Homeless shelters which are ill equipped to really help these people. The work should be contracted off to professional organizations that specialize in Housing and Rehabilitation like The Salvation Army.
Did you know it costs the city almost $300. A night to “Warehouse” our homeless like animals? No Rehabilitation, Nothing. Ideas from our leaders? Same old. It is easy to forget these are people who once had dreams, hopes and productive lives. I've made friends with some homeless and their stories are heart wrenching.
The warehousing of our homeless is not working anymore. In fact it is making the problem worse. I propose we sell off all the Shelters and use that money to build a new facility. A facility with proper housing, work programs, rehabilitation, law enforcement, mental health and substance abuse support.
Italy for example has used this approach and now has the highest rehabilitation rates in the world.
The sign at the Seaton House, Canada's largest homeless shelter says it all. "Only 3 kinds of men, somebody's father, son or brother".
